BWHA 90th Year AGM Service Awards

On Tuesday 28 November at the 90th AGM of BWHA, a number of our members received Service Awards and the Senior & Junior Volunteer of the Year awards were announced. SENIOR VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR – Cheryl Kann

Senior Turf Match Secretary, controlling the player movements across the 7 senior turf divisions and compiling the PL1 statistics. Member of the Umpire & Technical Committee and a volunteer technical officer on Saturday senior turf fixtures.

JUNIOR VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR – Blanche Ryan

U15 Head Manager and Brisbane 4 Team manager in 2023; always willing to assist with representative and development programs.

2024 U7 & U9 Cooridnator Paid Roles

BWHA are taking applications for U7 & U9 Coordinators (2 positions available) for Saturday mornings at Rasey Park (95 Butterfield Street, Herston) from April-August 2024.

Applicants should be confident, knowledgeable of the BWHA Rules of Association, and have a friendly and approachable manner. This role would be suitable for people aged 16 years or older.

Hours Each Saturday: 7.30am to 11.30am 

Payment: $20.00 per hour

You must have a Blue Card/Exemption Card to undertake this role or be able to apply for one

2024 Tech Official Paid Roles

BWHA are taking applications for Technical Officials for our Junior and Senior Competitions located at the 5 turf venues from March-September 2024.

Turf Fixtures are played during the season between:

  • Friday – 5.45pm to 9.45pm (Juniors)
  • Saturday – 7.30am to 10.00pm (Juniors & Seniors)
  • Sunday – 10.30am to 10.00pm (Seniors)
  • Monday – 6.15pm to 10.00pm (Masters)

Technical Officials will be paid per game for their allocations as a Hobby Payment, with the rate dependant on level of accreditation and experience.

2024 BWHA Age Groups

In the last Management Report, BWHA advised clubs and members of the changes to our Junior Competition age groups for 2024 in line with the changes that Hockey Queensland and Hockey Australia have made to their Representative age groups.

To assist in the communication of the competition age group changes, BWHA has created the attached resources.

This information is available on the BWHA website and has been distributed to all junior and senior club contacts.
