Representative Umpiring Information

Umpiring for your association is a unique and rewarding opportunity.

To be appointed to a tournament, umpires must submit a nomination. Once nominated, they will be contacted by BWHA regarding their availability for player selection trials.

Umpires are encouraged to participate in officiating these trials. For example, if a nominee is for U14s, they will be expected to umpire the BWHA U14 Selection Trials. Umpires who officiate during the selection trials will be eligible for payment.

Nominations are evaluated by a panel of selectors, and umpires are ranked based on their experience, accreditation, and competency.

Appointments will be communicated through the ‘Representative Teams’ document located in the players’ section.

Appointed umpires will receive an official appointment letter from BWHA containing essential information, including details about the Hockey Queensland registration process.

Compensation for services varies based on the nature and location of the tournament. Some tournaments may provide accommodation and meals, while others may offer fuel allowances.
